ABOUT
GUFC
Glasgow University Football Club was formed in 1877. It is still one of the most competitive and successful sports clubs at the University.
Within the club there are 4 different squads; Under 21s, 3rd team, 2nd team and the 1st team, who all compete to a high level in Saturday football.
In addition to this, the club puts forward 3 squads to compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport leagues, where they play against other universities around Scotland and the rest of the UK.
The Success
Our first team is always among the strongest in Scotland, and as recently as 2010 finished runners-up in the BUCS Trophy final, having beaten top-class opponents such as Manchester and Loughborough on the way.
Our first team had a very successful 2013/14 season, finishing 3rd in the Caledonian AFA Premier League.
Our second team was promoted into the Greater Glasgow Premier AFL Division 1 after a successful 2013/2014 season, finishing 3rd in Division 2.
Our third team finished 6th in the Greater Glasgow Premier AFL Division 4.
Competing
As a founding member of the SFA, the first team also compete each year in the Scottish Cup, with notable recent opponents being Brechin City, Buckie Thistle and Beith Juniors FC.
At the GUFC we pride ourselves on our professional approach to football, and all players are fully committed to furthering the success of the club. In addition to this, the football club are renowned for our nights out as well as annual club tours, to places such as Bulgaria, Greece, Barcelona and Toronto.
We train on Monday and Thursday evenings throughout the season, competing in matches on both Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
