The 1s after their SFA South Region Cup victory away to Fleet Star
NEWS

The club is looking forward to competing in the first round of the Scottish Cup this weekend against Cumbernauld Colts. The team will be making the short trip to Broadwood on Sunday hoping to cause an upset and reach the second round of the cup.
The boys have endured a mixed start to the season with the usual issues of lack of availability and boys graduating at the end of the last academic year. However the boys produced a great performance away to Milton last Saturday to win 3-1 and with the return of some first team boys and a couple of boys picked up from the trials we go into the game confident that we can give make things difficult for Cumbernauld.
The game is a 3pm kick off on Sunday and tickets are £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

After a very disappointing result and performance last weekend against Doune, 1st team coach Stuart Grieve was looking for a strong response from the boys today in their game against Milton through in Stirling.
There were a few changes to the team from last week with Euan Roseweir, Euan Woodley, and Jack McGrath coming in to make their first starts of the season.
The early stages of the game was very closely contested with neither team able to create any clear cut changes. With about 25 minutes of the half gone GUFC took the lead with a typical poachers finish from Donald Thomson. Mikey Baxter whipped in a good delivery which was headed down by Keiran Everden. Roseweir managed to get infront of the Milton keeper and get a touch on the ball before it bounced nicely infront of Thomson who finished well into the top of the net.
GUFC quickly doubled the lead from another set piece. A corner from Baxter was punched up in the air by the Milton goalkeeper, Everden was then able to get his head on the ball and finish with a well placed header into the top corner.
GUFC saw out the rest of the half comfortably and it was 2-0 at half time. As expected Milton came flying out of the traps at the start of the second half and quickly tested Matt Baines in the GUFC goal with a couple of strikes from the edge of the area. However, against the run of play GUFC managed to extend their lead after some great attacking play. David Holborn did brilliantly just inside his own half to beat a man before playing a fantastic run to Thomson who had made a great run off the left side. Thomson then sprinted away from his marker before finishing well past the goalkeeper at the front post. It was a brilliant piece of counter attacking football and helped to give us some much needed breathing space.
Milton quickly struck back after some disappointing defending. There was confusion on the right side as their striker looked to have taken the ball out of play before cutting inside and beating 3 GUFC defenders before placing the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Despite Milton exerting a lot of pressure for the remaining 30 minutes of the game GUFC managed to keep their shape and mostly limit Milton to long range shots which Baines dealt with comfortably. They had one clear cut chance with about 5 minutes to go when there was a scramble in the box from a free kick. Their striker looked to have a clear cut shot from 5 yards out but Hahmez Waring came in with a brilliant block to deny him.
The boys saw out the rest of the game to gain a much needed 3 points. It was a good response after last weeks disappointment and helps to build some confidence going into next weeks William Hill Scottish Cup game against Cumbernauld Colts.

We are delighted to announce that the club was successful in receiving its SFA Quality Mark recently. This highlights the good work the club is doing and how we are continuing to improve the standard of coaching and playing at the club. Here is Club President Donnie Fergusson, Club Captain Keiran Everden, and Vice Captain Stevie Learmont receiving the award at the awards night held at Firhill Stadium.
